My husband was unexpectedly diagnosed with metastatic cancer within three days of being admitted to the hospital and passed away two days later. Maria Hargaden provided care to him most of the time he was there. In addition to her excellent clinical skills, she was able to make him feel like a priority despite her other patients and responsibilities. She also provided him with emotional and spiritual support at the end of his life and brought our family much peace and comfort during this most difficult time. There are, of course, many caring and skilled nurses in the hospital, but sometimes, there is one who has a special gift for caring for others. She is one of them. She is an exceptional nurse and person. We will be forever grateful for her kindness and compassion and for supporting my husband, myself, and my family at the end of his life.
