He made me feel welcome. He attended to my sister-in-law’s every need in a timely manner.
My sister-in-law was in the ICU for issues following a hip replacement. She was having atrial fibrillation problems and was admitted to the ICU. I flew in from Maryland to take care of my sister-in-law following her surgery. We expected to stay one night but into a 4-day/night stay. When she began experiencing daily nausea and A-fib incidents, I was allowed to stay in the ICU room with her as support. I visited her from 7:30 am until 8 pm each day during her stay.
During my 12 hours daily in the ICU unit, I witnessed so many acts of kindness to me and my sister-in-law that it would take a book to record them all. When I saw the nominating form in the waiting area, I immediately knew that this might be one way to recognize the outstanding work of at least one of the professionals in the ICU… Daniel Petrus.
Dan went out of his way to attend to his patients. He helped find the charger outlet for a cellphone, the TV channels, or whatever was asked of him. He made me feel welcome as a family member and asked if “I” needed anything even though I wasn’t the patient. He made me feel welcome. He attended to my sister-in-law’s every need in a timely manner. I knew she was in good hands with Dan as her nurse.
