My nurse in labor and delivery from the moment I arrived at the unit was quite literally a heaven-sent. I was sent directly from my OB office to the hospital for my high BP, and to say I was scared is an understatement. My nurse showed me compassion and understanding. She was educating me while also completing all the necessary tasks to prepare for an emergency C-section. She worked collaboratively with the physicians, other nurses, and my husband. She was patient with answering all of my questions and communicated the entire care plan for each day she cared for me.

Although my C-section was scheduled for the day after all of these events, I know God answered my prayers by blessing me with this nurse who was assigned to me. She even came to check on me after I was transferred to the postpartum unit. I will never forget her kindness, empathy, and professionalism. Most importantly, I could never repay her for her amazing care. My daughter will hear about the amazing staff, especially this outstanding nurse when she’s older.

Maria provided exceptional care throughout my labor and delivery. She made me feel comfortable, informed, and cared for when I walked in the door. Though she was careful never to pressure me into anything I was not ready for, she clarified my options and provided insight from her experience when requested. The moment that stands out most vividly was when we were preparing for the epidural to be placed. This nurse calmly informed me of the process and held on to my shoulders to keep me steady and comfortable through my contractions while the anesthesiologist worked behind me. She whispered powerful affirmations while making full eye contact, communicating sincere care and encouragement. I was thrilled that our baby was finally born minutes before the end of her shift so that I did not have to transition to another nurse. What a gift she was during a new, exciting, tough, and scary process.
