Ashton knew that something about me was amiss. She stayed in my room that morning and was there when I coded.
I was a patient for six days the first time, with Ashton as my nurse most of those days. She took a personal interest in my care. On day five, she volunteered to work a shift the next day, and lucky for me, she did. The morning of day six, Ashton knew that something about me was amiss. She stayed in my room that morning and was there when I coded. She began chest compressions immediately. After resuscitating me, she had to intubate me. I was transferred to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls, where I stayed for three weeks. Upon returning to Marshall, Ashton was my nurse again and even requested to be assigned to me. She always went above and beyond. She even followed my progress while I was in Sioux Falls. When I was supposed to be discharged, she brought me a card on her day off. She encouraged me to stay the course and fight through my recovery.
