I was admitted to LMC with a PE at 13 days postpartum. Ashley was my nurse that weekend. She was incredibly supportive and helpful to this first-time mom, away from her baby, terrified of the diagnosis and having to learn Lovenox injections, dealing with pumping, all of the things that come with being in the hospital as well as being a new mom. Ashley truly went above and beyond, though, when I began to experience sudden severe flank pain. Ashley almost immediately identified that my symptoms were likely caused by a kidney stone. She worked quickly to get me comfortable as best she could while waiting to hear back from the attending for additional orders. Unfortunately, the attending was insistent for quite a while that my pain was muscular. Ashley's fierce advocacy ultimately got the attending to agree to an additional workup, which revealed that I had developed a kidney stone. It was Ashley's advocacy and assessment skills that got me the care I needed in a timely manner. Ashely made a great catch that day. Thank you, Ashely!!
