I found myself needing less pain medication and more of Mimi’s gentle guidance. When she wasn’t caring for me during the day, I relied on what she had instructed me to do during the night.
During my stay, I had an amazing group of people who cared for me. All of them were caring and kind, however, I do want to single out a nurse who I believe was instrumental in my recovery. When Magdalena came on for night shift, she noticed immediately that I was uncomfortable. From the moment she took over my care she started managing my pain and gave me different tools to help ease the discomfort. From a belly binder, pushing me to move around, to drinking plenty of fluids, trying different positions, and providing a wedge to give my back some relief from the bed. I found myself needing less pain medication and more of Mimi’s gentle guidance. When she wasn’t caring for me during the day, I relied on what she had instructed me to do during the night. I have to say that she didn’t do it all alone. My nighttime PCA was phenomenal as well. I was never alone, and between the two of them, I became more optimistic about my recovery. When it was time to be discharged, I felt that I was capable of managing my own discomfort and healing at home. And though I had amazing doctors, nurses, and PCAs around the clock, Mimi’s experience and guidance stood at the forefront of my mind and have helped me recover at home.

I’m so grateful for her kindness and for being there when I was a patient on T3. Any medical team can treat a patient, but there are a special few who have a healing touch.
