She displayed an advanced level of professionalism and compassion, which I cannot put into words.
I was in the emergency department and had to have blood taken (I was at a different hospital, and they blackened my arm trying to draw), so when I was at MacNeal ER, I was a bit nervous but then I was blessed to get nurse Patty whom one of the other nurses called "THE VEIN WHISPER." I didn't even feel anything, and her knowledge and experience came through when she informed me it would be better to install an IV and that if more samples were needed, it would be easier; sure, as the sun shines, more samples were needed and retrieved with no problem. I mentioned to her that I was surprised that the song she was humming that she knew it and knew all the verses (THE OLD COKE A COLA JINGLE FROM 1977).

I was also in the emergency department on a different occasion, and there was this terrified child who was crying. This amazing nurse settled down this upset child in a very nurturing way so that she could perform the triage needed. This nurse is what an RN is supposed to be. She displayed an advanced level of professionalism and compassion, which I cannot put into words. Thank you, Nurse Patty. She is, in my opinion, an RN who cares about patients and goes above and beyond to make them feel better so the doctors can do their work. Thank you once again!
