I have always had so much respect for Erin just working with her every day. But on that day, I saw just how selfless and caring she truly was.
I work in the same Department as Erin Rodriguez. She works as a nurse case manager but has had a very extensive career as a labor and delivery nurse. She is always a joy at work and greets everyone with respect and kindness. Earlier this year, I was pregnant with my second child, and due to complications with the pregnancy, I was induced at 37 weeks.

My husband was not in the state due to being away for training, and my mom and sister were not due to fly up until the following week. Erin Rodriguez was the last person I stopped to talk to before heading up to the Maternal Newborn Unit. I told her how nervous I was due to the induction being so unexpected and not having my husband there with me. She was so comforting and kind in that moment. When the induction turned into an emergency c-section, I was terrified because I didn’t have my husband or my family there for support. I was put under general anesthesia for the operation, and when I woke up a few hours later, Erin Rodriguez was the first person I saw. She had heard the Code Purple call and immediately came up to check on me. She sat with me as I continued to wake up and comforted and reassured me that everything was going to be okay and that my baby was healthy.

Erin stayed by my side the rest of the day. She got me food and drinks, held and changed the baby's diaper, and kept me company. When she realized I was going to be alone that first night, I tried to tell her I would be fine, but she insisted that she stay. Erin held my baby nearly that entire night to let me sleep. She changed every diaper and would only wake me up when he needed to eat. I have no idea how I would have managed that first night because I was in so much pain that I could barely pull myself up to a sitting position, let alone try to pick up a newborn. I have always had so much respect for Erin just working with her every day. But on that day, I saw just how selfless and caring she truly was. She took care of me and my baby in one of the scariest moments of my life, and I will never be able to thank her enough for the kindness she showed me. This organization should feel proud to have such an incredible nurse working here.
