I had a routine cholecystectomy. The next six weeks were anything but routine and resulted in multiple hospital stays. I must add that I have been a registered nurse for over 27 years and a nurse educator for 19 years. So, as a patient, I observe those who care for me as a co-worker and an educator.

Because of my multiple hospital stays in multiple facilities, I have experienced a great deal of nurses. Some were good, some not so good, and one was exceptional. The nursing care that Missi Isola provided me was the epitome of what I try to teach my students. She was compassionate and empathetic. She took the time to visit with me, educate me, and provide holistic care during her shift. She did the small, memorable, and meaningful things.

Missi was never in a hurry to leave my room despite my being in contact precaution. She exuded genuine care for me and my health. Missi sets the standard for nursing care provided that all other nurses should follow. I cannot thank her enough for the exceptional care.
