Amy Savchenko plays a vital role in supporting our mission by ensuring that our nursing staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and training necessary to provide the highest quality of care to patients in critical situations. By training and educating our nurses on the latest medical advancements, best practices, and emergency protocols, Amy empowers the ED team to deliver prompt, effective, and compassionate care to those in need, ultimately contributing to the well-being and survival of our patients.

Amy Savchenko has displayed exceptional commitment and leadership by conducting a comprehensive gap analysis on sepsis learning needs in the emergency department.  She presented her findings to the Quality team and is in the process of using that information to create learning activities on Sepsis for staff.  To help kick off September, Sepsis month, Amy will engage staff through interactive activities like a Jeopardy game on sepsis, where staff will scan QR codes under several categories weekly to answer questions related to sepsis! The various shifts will compete against each other and the GME residents to see who wins!

Through her initiatives, such as creating a department newsletter, maintaining a SharePoint site with valuable resources, and organizing professional practice and education council meetings, Amy has significantly contributed to the continuous improvement of staff education, engagement, and communication.

Furthermore, Amy has demonstrated exceptional teamwork by collaborating with Women's Services for mock codes, planning pediatric intubation skills training with NICU physicians, and creating a PALs binder for pediatric codes. Amy also has a group chat for nurse residents, which showcases her innovative approach to fostering a supportive learning environment.

Additionally, Amy has shown a commitment to staff development by working with HR to incentivize timely completion of HealthStream assignments, ensuring continuous learning and growth opportunities for all team members.

Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development not only enhances the competence and confidence of our nursing staff but also directly impacts the quality of care delivered in our emergency room, embodying our commitment to excellence in healthcare and the improvement of human life. Amy truly deserves this prestigious award for her outstanding contributions to education, collaboration, and staff development in the emergency department.
