I spent two days under her care, and during this short time, I learned more about my health and things that will keep me healthy than in all the years I have been going to hospitals.
I was admitted to the hospital around 11pm after a long Emergency Room experience and was pretty exhausted and anxious due to my condition (I have terminal cancer as well as COPD and numerous heart issues). The next morning my nurse introduced herself as she was covering the chair for me to sit in, noting that I should be spending more time in the chair than in bed. At this initial contact with Kaysie, she spent much of the conversation discovering my condition and what led to my admission. She offered well-grounded suggestions for helping me make lifestyle choices that should improve my health. I spent two days under her care, and during this short time, I learned more about my health and things that will keep me healthy than in all the years I have been going to hospitals. Beyond this, she checked on me often and made it clear that if I needed anything, to simply use the call button and ask her. She definitely followed through. I had several specialist visits and Kaysie answered any questions I may have had prior to as well as after these visits. Upon my diagnosis of heart failure, she arranged a session with an RN from the Heart Failure Clinic. I believe that for me, this was a critical stage of a positive change in my overall health. I have had several years with the Cleveland Clinic as well as many other hospitals, and they are far above any care I have had at any other facility, and Kaysie exemplifies the foundation of this. She is genuinely caring and gracious and always quick with a smile and a good word, but also, she is a no-nonsense nurse who among other things, is not afraid to take your salt off your food tray. I just wish the world had more nurses like her.
