Michael absorbed much of the emotional stress response from the broader care team and was able to assist the team in understanding and managing the care required for this little girl and her family.
Over the past five months, Michael has been involved in coordinating the care of an extremely complex infant and her family.
The challenges for this case have been immense. The emotional stress for both the family & staff has been all consuming.
Michael has maintained a professional/respectful & kind demeanour whilst navigating this journey with both the family & the staff of the NPICU.

Many, many hours have been spent in family meetings (along with other members of the care team), listening to, understanding the family’s needs & the summarising & succinctly relaying those needs to the broader team.

The NPICU practices Family Integrated Care & this case was family integrated care in its truest form – Michael (and the rest of the care team) applied these principles in their entirety.

Michael will say this was a team effort (and it was), but someone has to coordinate the plan, someone has to be the lynchpin, someone has to be the go-to!

Michael absorbed much of the emotional stress response from the broader care team and was able to assist the team in understanding and managing the care required for this little girl and her family.

We say to Michael – Thank You for your compassionate care of this family & for your continuing support of the NPICU team.
