Janina truly made a point of comforting him and letting him know it was okay, that accidents happen, and that it was not a big deal to clean him up.
My husband was brought to the hospital for numbness in his right side. After several tests, it was confirmed he had a stroke. This was not the first time @BTMC for a stroke. His nurse was a new nurse, Janina. She was a breath of fresh air, a very positive attitude, very compassionate and you could tell she truly cares about her patients and their families.
I was very surprised when I asked for a warm blanket for my husband because he had been cold all day, that she brought one within 10 minutes and even brought me one too. She seems to have a thirst for knowledge but also wants to make sure that the patient has the best day they can in this uncomfortable setting the hospital can be. As a nurse myself, I usually compliment the nurses when they do a good job. Janina, however, a thank you didn’t seem enough. Everything she told me or my husband that she was going to do, she did. She checked on us frequently and made us seem like we were important.
With this stroke, my husband has lost his ability to know when he has the urge to have a bowel movement and, therefore, has had several accidents. Janina truly made a point of comforting him and letting him know it was okay, that accidents happen, and that it was not a big deal to clean him up. I pray she never changes.

Professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and all-seeing. She works until she gets the job accomplished. She is full of compassion, not only for her patient but for their family as well. She makes sure that we are all taken care of. She explains everything that is going on and procedures that will be done, after the doctor has been in. She makes sure that her patient and family have a layman’s terms knowledgeable concept of what is happening. She does not ignore or exaggerate the issues. Janina is a role model and a credit to her profession. Words can’t express how much I appreciate having her take care of my mom. I felt I could relax because I knew she was in good hands. She was as concerned about her care and her getting well as we were. I felt honored and blessed to have my mother in her care.
