Rachel Rucinski is a float nurse working in the Outpatient Clinic setting. She continuously demonstrates compassion and goes above and beyond to care for our Veterans. Ms. Rucinski was instrumental in providing exceptional care for a veteran who had been waiting for a hip replacement that was delayed due to complications with lymphedema-related ulcers. Ms. Rucinski often stepped in to assist with wound care, dressing change appointments, and seeing her own patients. This veteran had also shared with staff that they recently lost internet in their home, which was their only method of communication. Ms. Rucinski assisted in making calls to the veteran’s internet provider to get service restored and assisted with the coordination of transportation to ensure the veteran was set up for upcoming dressing change appointments in the following weeks. Ms. Rucinski's actions led to optimized outcomes for this veteran.
