To say we were excited when Hugo Ruelas, Jr. said he wanted to come back to us is an understatement. He has always been such an asset to this organization. An example of this came recently during a night shift in the Emergency Department. While caring for a patient, a nurse got into a situation where the patient became aggressive toward her. She was in the corner of one of our ED rooms without a way to take herself out of the situation. Hugo heard the patient yelling and responded to the patient's room. Knowing this nurse needed assistance, he was able to put himself between that nurse and the patient. Hugo was willing to do whatever it took to make sure the other staff member was protected. On top of that, he made sure to come in later that day to follow up with staff regarding the incident. Hugo deserves to be recognized because of his continuous dedication to his patients and fellow staff members.
