She consistently demonstrated that she was thinking of my child as a whole person, working hard to protect her physical health, but almost more importantly, working to protect her emotional well-being.
My daughter was admitted to 3 North after a fairly extensive back surgery. She quickly became a complicated situation due to a variety of factors, meaning there were several different things being juggled during her recovery, making her care very labor intensive. All of the nurses and techs we interacted with have been wonderful, but Hailey is truly a star.
Hailey is intelligent, proactive, caring, and considerate. She consistently demonstrated that she was thinking of my child as a whole person, working hard to protect her physical health, but almost more importantly, working to protect her emotional well-being.
She anticipated my daughter's needs consistently, made sure her meds were on time, and tirelessly tended to my daughter's requests for help. She ordered special meals when my daughter wouldn't eat. She contacted the doctor about 30 minutes before I thought we might need to reach out on more than one occasion. She coordinated and juggled care with multiple different specialties. She pushed my daughter when she needed to be pushed and nurtured her when she needed TLC. There were days when I couldn't even comprehend how she took care of her other patients or had a meal break because she was so present in this room.
Hailey has been our nurse for three days (and counting) and has made such an impact on our stay. I could literally write pages about all the things that she has done to improve a not-so-awesome situation, so I'll just end with this: I would hire her in a second. Pay her well. Do whatever it takes to retain her. It's really hard to find talent like this.
