My husband was in the room and immediately said “it’s her”. He said he’d always remember that voice as she was our pillar of strength during a very difficult moment during the previous year.
I had my first child, a boy named C, in June of 2023. He came into the world by way of an unexpected C-section. I was terrified, anxious, and unsure about what was happening. A nurse whom I know to be Amy- grabbed my hands, had me look her in the eyes, and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. The strength that she gave me and the kindness she showed in such a difficult moment were not forgotten over the next year as I reflected on my birthing experience. Fast forward to late July of 2024. I was admitted to the hospital for about two weeks before welcoming our daughter. One of the first days after being admitted, a nurse with a familiar voice entered my room. My husband was in the room and immediately said “it’s her”. He said he’d always remember that voice as she was our pillar of strength during a very difficult moment during the previous year. She continued to care for me over the course of the next two weeks. The days were long, but once again, she was the rock that got me through the long nights and difficult days. I am nominating Amy because she went above and beyond the job and will always have a place in my heart for the care she provided in welcoming both of our children into the world.
