Not only did she take great care of T, but she also spent time comforting and explaining things to the family. Her presence gave us peace of mind.
All the nurses who cared for T were exceptional, but Felecia Bratcher stood out the most to our entire family. I remember when she first walked in for her 12-hour Friday-Sunday shifts; her expression made me think she'd be tough to deal with. Even T’s husband said he wasn't sure he'd like her. I told him to give her a chance, reminding him not to judge a book by its cover. Felecia had a no-nonsense attitude, and by the end of her first day, she had checked every box for the DAISY Award. She told us she’d been a nurse for 30 years and was committed to doing everything possible for her patients. Not only did she take great care of T, but she also spent time comforting and explaining things to the family. Her presence gave us peace of mind. On the second day, while I was outside, she sat down with T’s husband and had a conversation that truly helped him. Even on days when T wasn’t her patient, Felecia stopped by to check in, which meant the world to us. Her exceptional care during such a critical time left a lasting impact.
