She is passionate about nursing, strives to provide the highest quality of care, and is the type of nurse you would want taking care of you or your family.
Margie Kate serves as the ICU assistant nurse Manager and, during the last 10 months, has had to step in as Interim Manager while I was deployed. She courageously stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park. She expertly managed the 60+ staff members, handled several delicate matters, standing her ground every step of the way, and never backed down from any of the challenges she was faced with. She is always going out of her way to help others, whether it be assisting with all aspects of patient care, starting mid-line IVs on the floor, responding to all RRTs, stroke, and heart alerts that occur on a daily basis, or just lending an ear to someone who is having a rough day, all the while still managing to complete her routine managerial tasks like working on the schedule, time and attendance, payroll, chart audits, going to meeting, just to name a few. She is passionate about nursing, strives to provide the highest quality of care, and is the type of nurse you would want taking care of you or your family. Her smile, positive attitude, and enthusiasm are infectious, and she is the epitome of what a nurse should be. She has managed to maintain her sanity and keep it between the ditches, all the while navigating through the plethora of changes that have taken place over the course of the past ten months. She has fought the good fight, masterfully leading the team through both the highs and lows, making sure the ICU staff, patients, and their families were taken care of and their needs met. With that being said, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award than Margie Kate.
