I started at Ascension Genesys as a Nurse Intern in December of 2022, and I have been an RN since January of 2024. During that time, I had the pleasure of working underneath and learning from Miss Walton for 400+ hours.

Jill is the epitome of what it means to be a great nurse. She goes above and beyond her call of duty to make a difference. I have seen many nurses do the "big things" to look good in front of patients and families. However, many times, I have seen those same nurses not do the small things. Jill is a great nurse because not only does she do the "big things," she does all of the small things that it takes to be a truly life-changing nurse. She not only listens to her patients, but she actively hears them. She hears their needs and concerns and does whatever she can to help meet those needs or calm those concerns. Jill brings an attitude so positive to work everyday that it can change the entire outlook of our unit.

In addition to being a shining beacon of hope to our patients, she also goes above and beyond to train interns and new nurses. Jill has spent countless hours working with me to get better in any way that I can. You will never catch Jill trying to demean or dress down a coworker or subordinate. Instead, you will find Jill doing everything in her power to teach, inspire, and uplift. Miss Walton has worked many years without awards and recognition because she does it for the right reasons. She does it for the patients and for the community. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that she has changed my life and countless other lives in our community because of her hard work and dedication. Jill is the definition of a great nurse.
