This candidate is a Nurse Manager who has the responsibility to provide and integrate clinical leadership and management in a nursing unit. The Management of this unit requires ongoing responsibility and accountability for the daily operations on the unit. She is responsible for supervising and leading her team. What stands out about this leader is her overwhelming concern, compassion and care for all of the patients on her unit as well as her staff. She works tirelessly to ensure the patients' needs are met. She is always willing to assist with hands on patient care including bathing and mobility. She helps with wound care, IV insertions and other clinical skills. When her staff feel overwhelmed, she feels for them and assists in any way possible. Throughout any given day, you will hear her say, don't worry, I'll take care of it." She spends numerous hours conversing with patients and families. She seeks resources to ensure the needs of the patients are met.

This candidate is always accessible and responsive to her team. She responds to calls and texts well after her shift and weekends. Recently, she forfeited her scheduled vacation with her family due to an unannounced survey. Without question, she was present and supportive during the week-long survey. She actively monitors and reviews patient medical records, ensuring the virtual nurse's documentation is accurate, complete, and within our standards of practice.

Under her leadership, her unit recently received the Mobility Award for the most improved unit in the hospital. She motivates staff with a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes. This candidate provides leadership in the unit, serving as a role model and resource. Her enthusiasm for new programs is contagious among her staff and those around her.
