This nurse has stood out not just for her clinical expertise but for her empathy and compassion that radiates from her every action. My father, a cancer patient battling the physical and emotional toll of his illness, has felt excitement rather than fear to come to his appointments.
I am pleased to submit this nomination for Danielle Ramos, an outstanding outpatient infusion nurse, in recognition of her exemplary clinical skill and compassionate care. Danielle has luckily been my father's nurse for his three chemotherapy treatments thus far, and I knew from Day 1 that she deserved this nomination.

First and foremost, accountability plays a pivotal role; as a professional nurse, she takes responsibility for her actions and decisions, recognizing the impact on both them and their colleagues. This accountability extends to ensuring patient safety and well-being. At our 3rd visit, Danielle caught a mistake in the pathway for my father's CHOP treatment for his lymphoma. She explained to us that there are CHOP & R-CHOP, and the pathway versus his treatment plan was not the same. She waited to give any medications and called the doctor right away to ensure the treatment he would receive would be the same.

Passion for nursing practice is another hallmark of professionalism. She approaches her responsibilities with enthusiasm. This passion translates into a genuine commitment to providing the best possible care and fostering a positive and healing environment for patients. During one of our visits, there was a nurse from the city who came to show the staff how to administer one of the many medications; they approached Danielle and asked her if they could give this to one of her patients, to which she did not hesitate and said yes that would be fine. They walked out, and she immediately went to find them after she had just finished donning and told them to please ask the patient first if that was okay. In that instance, I witnessed her putting her patient's needs and wants first.

Moreover, a professional nurse advocates for patients, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights upheld. Advocacy involves championing for individual patients and contributing to broader initiatives that advance the community's well-being. When speaking with her and after asking her questions, she stated how she would love to do a research study on a medication and the rate it is given, and this was going to be the next thing she worked on. By consistently upholding these standards, she demonstrates not only her competence but also her dedication to the overall integrity of the nursing profession.

This nurse has stood out not just for her clinical expertise but for her empathy and compassion that radiates from her every action. My father, a cancer patient battling the physical and emotional toll of his illness, has felt excitement rather than fear to come to his appointments. For every chemotherapy appointment we have come in for, my father hopes to get an HIS nurse. She has made my father feel essential and valued. She always has a genuine smile and a listening ear. Her ability to not only address the medical aspects but also recognize and address any emotional needs of her patients has showcased her exceptional empathy. Danielle has shown that her empathy and compassion extended beyond the hospital walls.

In these moments and more, Nurse Danielle has exemplified the true essence of nursing – going beyond the call of duty to understand, connect, and alleviate not just the physical ailments but also the emotional burdens of her patients. Through her acts of kindness, she left an indelible mark on the lives of those under her care, demonstrating that true healing involves not just medicine but also a compassionate heart. Optimism is a powerful force and is evident in her nursing practice. Even in challenging situations, she maintains a hopeful outlook, reassuring patients. My father was overwhelmed, shaking, and nervous about his first chemotherapy. Danielle went over the process in detail with him and what possible side effects there may be, but she always said that won't be you! My father walked out confident and reassured.

In conclusion, Danielle is a shining example of what it means to be an outstanding outpatient infusion nurse. Her professionalism, caring behaviors, admirable attributes, and commitment to collaborative care have set her apart. We believe that recognizing Danielle with this nomination is a fitting acknowledgment of her dedication to patient care.
