Dear Rachel,

We have no words to express our gratitude for the level of care, comfort, and sympathy you have showered us with. Thank you for providing my cousin with the highest level of professional care. You provided our entire family with comfort during a stressful and difficult time in our lives. The minute you would enter the room, a layer of stress was lifted from our shoulders because we knew and felt that we mattered and that we were in good hands with the care you provided.

Thank you for being patient. We may have overwhelmed you with questions, but the beautiful part is that you would always answer or provide the clarification we needed. This eased our anxiety and uncertainties. Thank you for the sympathy and compassion you extended. You cried and laughed with us during a vulnerable time.

Thank you to the entire ICU team for doing everything in their power to save our loved one, unfortunately he didn’t make it. Rachel, thank you for providing our family with comfort during what I call the beginning of a long grieving process. You are the type of healthcare professional that every patient deserves! Thank you for allowing us to create memories with our loved one before we had to say goodbye, such as taking his fingerprints and forming them into a heart shape. Also, thank you for allowing us to record his heartbeat – the family will be putting the recording inside a furry friend at Build a Bear Workshop to be gifted to our beloved one’s first granddaughter, who is expected to arrive this winter.

Lastly, thank you for helping us understand the organ donor process. There is no doubt that you go out there every day and do your duties with passion.
