My 84-year-old husband B just had his third knee replacement. (He has also had two shoulder replacements.) This TNR was nearly 20 years after the first one, and he was more anxious about the outcome, given his age and abilities. The Kaiser medical staff at intake was wonderful, and his recovery nurse, Kate, was simply outstanding. She was warm, approachable, funny, and compassionate, giving him the utmost care and attention while maintaining a sense of humor throughout B's several hours in recovery as we waited for his nerve block to wear off and the subsequent PT clearance to allow him to go home. We learned a lot about Kate during this time; she was a good storyteller and helped us pass the time while making sure B received all the proper care and post-op information. We felt very fortunate to have Kate attending to B. What a gem!
