You sat with the veteran while he was dying, so he was not alone.
Linda recently completed her RN. Congrats, Linda. I want to let you know how much I appreciate and value your nursing judgment, critical thinking, thorough assessment, and advocating for our veterans. You always have the veteran’s best interest and comfort in mind. Your commitment to our team and team-centric attitude is demonstrated by daily (cares on the floor, haircuts, grooming, showers, getting vets dressed and up to assist coworkers) assistance in the bowel movement process improvement, training of colleagues in Papillion, and looking forward to anticipating needs of the veteran and unit.
You consistently exemplify the attributes of ICARE. For example, this weekend, your assistance was indispensable. Friday afternoon was particularly busy. Despite being very busy, you volunteered to assist me with a transfer. I particularly appreciate your integrity and willingness to speak up and circle back with me over the weekend to reassess medications and routes of administration as veterans' conditions dictated so they were comfortable.
Respect- you tried multiple times to contact family and were unable to do so. You sat with the veteran while he was dying, so he was not alone. The unit did not slow down while you were providing dedicated care for these vets at the end of life. Thank you for always going above and beyond for your veterans and coworkers. You are truly an asset to this team.
