He sat down next to my wife's bed, held her hand, and comforted her. He stayed with her until she was discharged. There are no words to describe his compassion.
Last November, my wife was not feeling well. She ended up going to the ER 3 times in a matter of days. On the second visit, after running various test, the ER doctor came in and said "I could not give you any more devastating news". At that time, I collapsed onto the floor, shouting out NO! This doctor gave the impression it was cancer and she would need chemo, etc. One person who was God-sent through all of this was Michael. He sat down next to my wife's bed, held her hand, and comforted her. He stayed with her until she was discharged. There are no words to describe his compassion. To make this long story short, my wife had surgery a few weeks later, and NO CANCER!! As recovery went on, we wanted to thank Michael for his caring support. However, we could not locate him. We wanted both to thank him and let him know the positive outcome. No matter how hard I tried, it was as if he did not exist. Finally, I gave up. Move forward.
Yesterday, about nine months later, I had to go to the ER. As I was getting discharged and my wife left to get the car. As the nurse was wheeling me out, she said my wife was speaking with someone. Having no idea as to who, as we turned the corner, there was my wife, in tears talking with, yes, Michael. The ER angel that has been by her side. There we were all in tears, including the nurse wheeling me out, and even Michael was fighting back the tears. He showed so much compassion and caring love that night, which was desperately needed at that moment. I suspect few people who get the diagnosis my wife had, come out as great as she did. I know Michael played a major part. I can see him holding her hand. Rubbing the top and comforting her. It made a world of difference. Things happen for a reason. My going to the ER was meant not only to care for me but for us to find our Guardian Angel, Michael West. He is most deserving of this award.
