I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2023. Kirstin is a Breast Health Navigator, a specialty I had never heard of. What a wonderful nurse and a wonderful specialty. Not only is she a very knowledgeable nurse, she knows the journey the patient is about to travel. There are so many tests and procedures in the beginning, and it's scary. Kirstin attended my treatment plan meeting with the doctors and was always there to explain the process each step of the way. I knew what to expect, so there were no surprises. She would call me to see if I had any questions or just needed to talk. She was easy to contact via the patient portal or by phone, and she even scheduled an appointment for me within 10 minutes, which the regular scheduler was having a hard time with. Kirstin told me when to start shopping for a wig, what bra to wear after surgery, and came to all my surgeon appointments. Most nurses are friendly and polite, but Kirstin's sweet, calm demeanor is an extra special trait that goes above and beyond her job title. Even her peers speak highly of her. I had an x-ray technician tell me that whenever they had a question, they asked Kirstin because she was smart and would quickly know the answer. If you're unlucky enough to get breast cancer, I hope you are lucky enough to have Kirstin for your nurse navigator. She will know all the answers and put you at ease. This makes all the difference!
