My stay in the hospital has been painful, long, and sometimes never-ending, but this time, Dave has brought a ray of sunshine into my healing process.
I've been served by many nurses in Doctors Hospital, and one stands out the most. Dave is kind, loving, and gentle in everything he does, even getting me to take the pills I hate. He has a quiet, coaxing nature that encourages one to do his best by following his instructions.
As he was treating me, we started talking, and I found out he was born and raised in Olongapo, Philippines. I served in the Navy there, so we talked about the beautiful places I remembered, and he was so excited to talk about home with me. We had an instant connection. I'm so grateful to his parents for raising such a fine son. While we were talking and sharing memories, we both felt as if we were back in time ever so briefly. I love the time I served there while in the Navy. Dave loves his home and misses it too.
Dave Merza has the best bedside manner, and I wish all nurses could be like him. He listens to me and explains everything he is doing or going to do in a way that encourages me not to resist. My stay in the hospital has been painful, long, and sometimes never-ending, but this time, Dave has brought a ray of sunshine into my healing process.
I know that I am in good hands for healing under Dave's care. I hope we have made a new friend for life! When I pass, I'm going to take a special interest in Dave Merza, helping where I can. I often wonder what my purpose is, lying here in misery until Dave enters the room. He is such a humble man you can't help but love him.
