During these stressful moments, Logan Christian decided to go above and beyond and be an encourager.
As you know, we are all in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. As a first year educator, and I'm sure for any educator, this pandemic has caused a lot of chaos. It has also completely disrupted the lives and the plans of our students. Stressed is probably not a strong enough word for the feelings they have experienced! During these stressful moments, Logan Christian decided to go above and beyond and be an encourager. I know of at least three different occasions that Logan went out of his way to offer appreciation and encouragement to the faculty at The University of Mississippi School of Nursing. Some may not think of this as a super big thing. They may think telling someone thank you has nothing to do with nursing. However, Logan thought of others in the middle of his chaos, in the middle of the loss of his cousin. He identified that we are all one team with the same goal and saw the importance of lifting up his leaders in order for us all to push forward. Not only is this an example of selflessness but also extraordinary teamwork - and only the best nurses exhibit such qualities.

From day one, Logan has exemplified professionalism and dedication in every aspect of becoming a nurse.  He always greets me with a smile and a hello.  Throughout his time here at UMMC, he has displayed respect, kindness, and a caring attitude towards his instructors as well as his fellow peers. He has demonstrated integrity and accountability in various ways.  Without a doubt, Logan will be the type of nurse that all the patients will love and adore as well as his peers.

I had the privilege of meeting Logan prior to the start of our Accelerated BSN program. He met with me weeks before the start of the program to make sure he was prepared for our program. Logan came to the meeting with questions ready. What a way to make a first impression! He had thoughtfully prepared himself for our meeting and our program, which set an expectation for his work ethic. Logan has exceeded those expectations. His preparation for class and clinical are unquestionable. He is a self-directed learner. However, he not only shows accountability for his personal learning but also is a leader in our team-based learning curriculum. He is respectful of his peers' views and encourages a safe learning environment.
