Dad was given Comfort Care for several days, and the compassion and care we received from Emma were immeasurable.
My dad told our family that he was to be thrown into a ditch and left to die before ever setting foot in SE Health again. However, against my mom’s request for another hospital, the ambulance took Dad to SE Health. We spent some time waiting in the ER until a bed became available.  We were told Dad had suffered a massive heart attack, and the doctor was unclear on the cause but felt his lung may have placed stress on his heart.

When we arrived on the fourth floor, my family and I met Emma. She immediately connected with our family by sharing her story of her grandfather’s passing with my mom, which brought her so much comfort.

Dad was placed on a vent and then taken off life support once my brother arrived from Atlanta. Dad was given Comfort Care for several days, and the compassion and care we received from Emma were immeasurable.  One of my family members became loud and unruly, and she looked through the glass to give me a look of concern and wanted to know if I was okay.

Once Dad began to fade, she took the time to explain the process and did everything in her power to make him and us feel comfortable. As my father drew his last breath and I began to pray, I noticed her in the corner weeping. She didn't know my father, and he didn't know her, but I wish he had met her. So Emma, if you get this, please know how much our family appreciates the work you do and the love and the compassion you gave to us will never be forgotten.
