I am typing this with tears in my eyes because while she was simply being a phenomenal nurse, she had no idea that she would have such a significant effect on me.
Michelle was so warm and welcoming and helped me to feel comfortable and safe. I was scheduled for a simple procedure that most people would think of as minor. However, for me, it was difficult to be the patient. Particularly, because this minor operation could be a simple removal of some rogue tissue, cancer or its removal could help me be able to start a family. Once again, that doesn’t sound like much if you’ve never bled profusely monthly (even through clothes) with excruciating abdominal pain and recurrent complications. The majority of my life, I worried about the day my body would betray me when I wanted to start a family. On the day I had to face it again, I was alone. My husband wouldn’t be there before surgery, and my family was thousands of miles away. I know that even a simple procedure with anesthesia is dangerous and can have life-changing consequences.

Michelle comforted me from the moment she met me. She greeted me with a warm smile and eased all of my concerns and fears. She even came over to check on me after my procedure before I was discharged. She went above and beyond even though their schedule was full. She made time to ask me questions about my anxiety and fears and spoke encouraging words to me before and after my procedure. I am typing this with tears in my eyes because while she was simply being a phenomenal nurse, she had no idea that she would have such a significant effect on me. She saw me, met me where I was, and helped usher me into a healing process that went beyond the physical and addressed the emotional aspects as well. I am so grateful for her.
