My daughter was a patient in the CICU for four months. Teresa Scalzi was her nurse since she was a couple of days old and until the day she passed away. I will always appreciate that she would check up on us every day she had a chance. She gave me a hug when I found out she had a stroke, she would call in for the meetings I had with all the specialists, and she would encourage me to speak up or ask questions. She would order snacks for my family, make memories with my daughters, help me get any available resources, answer my questions, and care for my daughter like she was her daughter. She always kept her bed with all the blankets I got and put on her little bows. She called on the day that my fiancé and I took the hardest decision to let our daughter go in peace without suffering or any pain. She chose a dress for her that I will keep for the rest of my life. The dress was a bit small, but she made some arrangements to make it fit her, and it was beautiful! Being a nurse is not just her job but her passion to care for kids and families! I will always be thankful to all the nurses, all the doctors, and you, Teresa.
