We had a patient with a wound vac that was not working after surgery (it had been off and not working for at least 12 hours). The surgeon didn’t know how to fix the issue, so he needed someone to consult. Continued disruption in the wound vac therapy could have been detrimental to this patient. She was on PTO on this day, but she volunteered to leave for her trip later in the day so that she could come in and fix the issue with the wound vac. She is always so patient-focused. She is so skilled, so intelligent, and thorough! This event could have caused a significant deterioration in the patient’s wound, and she put the patient’s needs before her own. I appreciate her expertise and her patient-centered approach to everything. We are blessed to have her.
