Jake was caring, compassionate, gentle, knowledgeable, and attentive. I have never had a nurse like Jake!
I had major abdominal surgery. Two days later, I was having difficulty breathing and went to the ER and discovered I had pneumonia. I was put on medication and sent home.

The following night was rough. I ended up calling my PCP the next morning. I was advised to go to Urgent Care or ER to be seen. I was taken to Urgent Care. Once Urgent Care took my pulse ox, it was decided that I should be seen in the ER.

A team of staff came into the room right away. Jake was my nurse and immediately very compassionate. Jake asked a lot of questions and gently helped me onto the bed. I was in so much pain at the surgery site and chest. I asked, “Please don’t poke me many times. During the last 2 times at the hospital, I have been poked 6 times when they looked for IV sites and each time being told there is no flashback.”

Jake asked me if anyone ever used the machine before and I said no; they just poked until they finally got an IV started. Jake put in two IVs with the machine. I was so thankful.

Jake answered every question and walked me and my family through everything that was going on. Jake was caring, compassionate, gentle, knowledgeable, and attentive. I have never had a nurse like Jake! Thank you so much, Jake. You are a true asset at JRMC!!!
