I was absolutely terrified before going into my first surgery ever. Maleana immediately took a seat in my room and let me know that she would take great care of me. She took the time to answer each of my questions, even if I thought they were silly! She has a warm and inviting smile. As promised, when I went into the operating room, she was there waiting with a smile again, reassuring me. She then followed up with me while I was in recovery and made sure I was doing good. Just such an amazing experience, and she made the whole process so much less worrisome.

During leadership rounds, a patient spoke to me about the CRNA who cared for her, Maleana Barnett. The patient had a recent unrelated surgery that led to a postoperative ICU stay. She was terrified of this next elective surgery. However, she said that Maleana was kind, and humorous and diminished her fear with her personality and commitment to excellence. Maleana sat with her, listened to her concerns, and eased her mind by walking her through the entire procedure. She was so thankful to her CRNA.
