She quickly learned my dad’s habits and anticipated his needs. She even helped him order food and brought us coloring books, crayons, and colored pencils.
Where do I begin? I was transferred from 5th floor to 3 surgical. I had blood in my urine and an INR of 8.6 while on warfarin. Lorenz was my night nurse for the first 4 days of my stay on the 3rd. I knew from the very first night that if there was anything I needed, she would tend to it STAT. She was constantly checking on me to make sure I was OK. Don’t get me wrong, every nurse I had during my 9-day stay was wonderful. That being said I feel Lorenz is an Extraordinary Nurse. She is an angel for sure!!!

Lorenz did an excellent/wonderful/super fantastic job caring for my father during his 3-night stay. I was not able to make the trip to Quincy until his second day. He was confused and frightened, and she put forth extra effort to make him comfortable. She didn’t just care for him as a nurse/patient, she cared about him as a person. He was transferred from West Burlington alone, confused and scared, but was quickly put at ease. She went above and beyond the job requirements all three nights. No task was too big or too small for her. There were many trips to the restroom, many cups of ice, bed changes, questions answered, personal conversations, and messages to doctors. She quickly learned my dad’s habits and anticipated his needs. She even helped him order food and brought us coloring books, crayons, and colored pencils. My father has dementia, and his short-term memory is shot, but he wrote Lorenz’s name down so he could remember her name and told me about her. He said, “She loved me like family”. Lorenz was a ray of sunshine that made this out-of-town hospital stay a wonderful experience.
