Connor’s compassion for my husband was felt instantly while watching him handle and care for him. We could feel his passion for the job and how much he gives of himself to help his patients.
My husband was recently hospitalized and received exceptional care from Connor. During a time of great stress and uncertainty, Connor provided unwavering support, compassion, and expertise. Connor's dedication to my husband was truly remarkable. He took the time to understand his medical condition and explain things in a way that was easy to understand. His gentle demeanor and comforting presence helped ease our anxiety and made a significant difference in his recovery.
We met Connor on our second night at Edward Hospital following my husband’s car accident. My husband was brought to the ER, admitted to the hospital and then transferred to the Cardiac Neuro ICU. During the first few days, we were scared, nowhere close to home and very unsure of what was happening. We were, however, blessed to have Connor as our night nurse for 3 nights. It was so nice to have the consistency of seeing the same face and knowing his actions. During this time, Connor not only took extreme care of my husband, but he also comforted our family. Connor’s compassion for my husband was felt instantly while watching him handle and care for him. We could feel his passion for the job and how much he gives of himself to help his patients. Connor spoke to my husband in a kind and caring way, explaining all his actions to him and to our family.
Part of the time my husband was in Connor’s care, he was on a vent, but Connor still found a compassionate way to communicate with him. One night, while caring for my husband, Connor also noticed I was cold. He quietly returned with a warm blanket for me. Connor’s simple action of even covering me in a warm blanket one night will never be forgotten. I also thought it was extremely thoughtful that Connor came to say hello to my husband once he was transferred out of the CNICU to a different floor. Throughout this section of my husband’s care, my husband was not able to recall many details. A couple of days later, while telling my husband about all the wonderful nurses and doctors, my husband states, “That one guy, he was pretty cool.” It speaks mountains to Connor’s care that my husband was able to not only remember his care but also his personality. Connor really is one pretty cool guy!
I believe Connor not only meets the requirements for a DAISY Nurse but exceeds them in his compassion and care for his patients. We feel blessed that we were able to meet Connor and witness his exceptional care and compassion as a nurse. I am grateful for the care that Connor provided to my husband. His kindness and professionalism made a lasting impression on our family.
