My dad had open heart surgery, and when he was brought back to the recovery unit, his night shift nurse, Breanna, was so caring and thoughtful of our family when we saw him for the first time after surgery. She took my mom's phone number, if anything happened throughout the night. We woke up the next morning to see my dad. When he was awake, Breanna left a voicemail on my mom's phone. We thought it was some kind of update or something, but when we listened to it, Breanna left a voicemail because when my dad woke up after being extubated, he wanted Breanna to tell my mom “that he loved her and good night” after surgery when we couldn't be there. Breanna went out of her way to do that for my dad and for my mom, and it meant so much to all of us. She left such a lasting impact on us still to this day for what she did after my dad was out of surgery.
