The patient mentioned how a small act such as that meant so much to her that a busy nurse was able to slow down just for her.
Edlie is one of the most thorough and patient-care-driven nurses I have come to know. She takes pride in every aspect of her nursing care to provide head-to-toe detailed care for each and every one of her patients. Her peers highly respect her as she takes on roles of charge nurse and preceptor without hesitation. Her patients provide consistent positive feedback of how she goes above and beyond to meet their needs. New grad residents have enjoyed working alongside her and admire how she cares for her patients.
A perfect example of this is a patient who recently resided on our unit who suffered injuries resulting in a foot boot. Out of the few days she had been admitted with the boot, the patient expressed gratitude for Edlie taking her own time to provide boot care and lotion the patient's leg when she felt dry and irritated. The patient mentioned how a small act such as that meant so much to her that a busy nurse was able to slow down just for her. She does all the required tasks and then some with a smile and has continued to put her patients first time and time again. Edlie is always striving to grow in multiple capacities in leadership and supporting nursing education all while maintaining her positive energy on the unit. She is a wonderful nurse, and we are so lucky to have her in the organization to continue to set the example she does.
