The admission with our son was normalized but also prioritized. Megan is an incredible and wonderful soul we will never forget.
Our baby was transferred to the NICU from Missouri Baptist Hospital. We were overwhelmed and frightened by the urgent need to be transported. Megan helped us understand all the stats that were on our baby's screen, helped us understand why our son needed an IV or other needle sticks, and what medicines he was taking, supported and respected our decisions, and asked about breastfeeding and circumcision care. She was my cheerleader when I needed reassurance that I was doing great with first-time Breastfeeding. We felt like we were not in a NICU, and we were here just because our baby needed a little help, and it's ok and good to look at everything from multiple angles. She asked if we needed anything every time she was getting ready to leave the room. She listened to our uneasiness, and she provided empathy and "the facts"... (we never felt the need or want to google something). She explained why some numbers were flashing and why machines were beeping. Not every beep and ding was bad, but it is important data to consider. She made every effort to make sure we saw a lactation specialist, social worker, chaplain, and dietician. The admission with our son was normalized but also prioritized. Megan is an incredible and wonderful soul we will never forget.
