She came in like a ray of sunshine after a really long night and renewed us both with her positive attitude, and her clearly very sharp and experienced clinical skills.
When my wife was induced, she was very upset about it. She had wanted to go into labor naturally like with our son. We spent the evening and night at Providence with no progress, and my wife was becoming very frustrated and sad. When the day shift came on, Nikki walked into the room with such confidence, friendliness, and compassion. She listened to my wife talk about how she had been at 6 cm for 12 hours, and she just wanted to turn off the epidural and go home. She listened to my wife talk about her previous birth experience and gave her room to cry and feel heard. Then Nikki said, “Well, we are getting this birthday party going today before I leave.”

She helped my wife (who had an epidural for 12 hours at this point) into different positions, came in immediately when we needed anything, and kept a positive attitude, which helped my wife cheer up. And she kept her promise. Our daughter was born 5 hours later. Nikki also listened to the story of our son’s birth and knew that there was a chance our girl would arrive fast and furious. Once my wife started progressing, Nikki spent almost all of her time in our room watching my wife and the monitor. She knew exactly when to call the doctor and got him there right on time. Nikki is an amazing nurse who we will never forget. She came in like a ray of sunshine after a really long night and renewed us both with her positive attitude, and her clearly very sharp and experienced clinical skills. She is an asset to Providence, and the hospital is lucky to have her.
