Caitlyn was a breath of fresh air. Her positive attitude and caring personality helped ease much of the anxiety my wife and I were experiencing.
One evening, out of nowhere I suddenly became nauseous, started shaking uncontrollably, was freezing, gasping for air and could hardly stand up. My wife quickly drove me to the Chambersburg Hospital emergency room, where I was immediately taken into an exam room, and all the excitement began. IVs were started, blood drawn and oxygen was attached to my nose. The staff was very efficient and professional. I saw two different doctors who questioned me as to what was going on. Each had a different opinion as to what was happening. My blood test results were not good, white blood cells were high, liver enzymes were abnormal as were my heart enzymes. My blood pressure and oxygen levels were very low. Needless to say, my wife and I were very concerned as to what was going on.

To make a long story short, I ended up staying in the hospital 4 nights and 3 days. Eventually, I was moved to the Tele Observation unit. It seemed like every few hours, the lab was drawing more blood, and doctors had ordered quite a few tests trying to figure out why my heart enzymes and my WBC were so high. There were a few short consults by different doctors, GI and Cardiac. All of the nurses assigned to my room were very good and very efficient, and professional; however, one, in particular, stood out, and her name is Caitlyn Dayhoff.

Caitlyn was a breath of fresh air. Her positive attitude and caring personality helped ease much of the anxiety my wife and I were experiencing. We did not know exactly what was going on and did not understand all the medical terminology that was being tossed around. Caitlyn became our interpreter, explaining what was being said in layman’s terms. She would also keep us updated whenever new test results came in or when another test was scheduled.

Caitlyn made me feel like I was her only patient, even though I knew there were other patients in each of the rooms she was assigned. I considered her to be my guardian angel, looking out for me. She had a very calming effect and helped make my stay more tolerable. My wife and I both agree that Caitlyn needs to be recognized for the outstanding care she provided.
