The birth of my son was one of the most challenging and hardest days of my life. My whole world was turned upside down in an instant. I am a first-time mom, and I know in my heart that Amber Workman was meant to be my nurse that day. I felt relaxed and comfortable with her the second she walked into the room. She built immediate rapport, and the second things went sideways later in that day, Amber was my biggest advocate.

My son needed to be quickly transferred to a different hospital, and the loneliness and heartbreak I felt was unimaginable. Amber felt that and did everything she could and more. She encouraged me to try pumping while waiting to get me discharged so I could feed my son. She helped me to the bathroom to perform self-care so I could take care of my own mental health. She stayed 2+ hours late on a long, stressful shift to ensure I was discharged so I could be with my family. She did this and so much more without ever being asked.
