Lauren could tell what I was feeling without me having to say it and stayed with me and calmed me down until it passed.
Coming into the hospital as a 20-year-old with no history of health issues was scary. Up until this point, I felt like I was dealing with my problems by myself. Yes, my family and friends helped some, yet I still felt helpless and alone. Every time I had an event, and Lauren was working that night, I felt safe. Normally, I would wake up confused and scared, but Lauren reassured me that I was in a safe space and that I had people with me. Being in the hospital can feel super isolating, and one night, when I pressed my event button, thinking I had an aura, it actually turned out to be a panic attack. Lauren could tell what I was feeling without me having to say it and stayed with me and calmed me down until it passed. There was no judgment, and I felt safe. So thank you, Lauren, for taking care of me. That’s more than just doing your job. You are everything that not only a nurse should be but EVERYONE should be: kind, patient, and understanding.
