My baby was in the NICU due to being unable to breathe steadily on his own. Shellonda was so educated and informative about his condition and constantly made it a priority for me as a first-time mom to feel safe and comfortable. Any procedure that was done was fully explained, and any questions I had were answered in detail. She truly made me feel like she was caring for her own child. I trusted her 100% when I was unable to be in the NICU, and my son was left in her care. While discussing personal information she made sure to ask if it was okay to talk about in front of others (family and friends). When the NICU was such a scary place for my baby to be as a first-time mom, she truly made it feel like a safe space. Her compassion, dedication, wisdom, and enthusiasm deserve to be recognized at the highest levels! She was an angel for the few days I was blessed enough to have her as my NICU nurse.
