He canceled the first time because he was nervous and scared, and he was very relaxed after his injection because of the compassionate care Julie provided.
I am the caregiver of someone who had surgery twice in the past 2 months for different reasons. The first one did not go well as he couldn't get comfortable and had a lot of back pain laying on the surgery bed, he was angry and hurting. The second surgery went so well, Julie helped him get on the narrow surgery bed and get comfortable; and he doesn't move easy. He had to lie on his stomach, which was not easy for him. She talked to him during all of the surgery, and he said she tried everything to get him as comfortable as she could. He called her a sweetheart. Now, he is not an easy patient to please and can be rough around the edges; Julie took the time to talk to him and keep him comfortable, and she saw past his grouchiness. She is the nicest nurse we have experienced anywhere in a long time. The fact that he was happy when we left the hospital is huge; he is never happy after leaving the hospital or having doctor appointments. Few people can see through his pain and anger, and she did just that.

Julie saw a patient who was in pain and just wanted to get better. She didn't see anyone angry (who was most likely yelling at them because he was in pain), but she treated him with kindness and respect. Many nurses see him for various reasons, and he wishes Julie was his nurse everywhere he went. Her kindness, compassion, and comfort are the only reasons he will come back to have a follow-up injection surgery. He canceled the first time because he was nervous and scared, and he was very relaxed after his injection because of the compassionate care Julie provided.
