All of the staff treated my daughter with compassion and showed outstanding care, but especially those I have specifically named. As a mother seeing your child sick is hard enough, let alone scared and unsure of what is going on. Both of the RNs, Kassie and Lauren, as well as the phlebotomist, Nancy, explained the process of an IV and drawing blood while they encouraged her bravery and consoled her. Lauren specifically said to her, “You can do hard things. You are so capable and amazing!” She went as far as getting a clean IV needle to show my daughter the instrument and how, once the poke was over, there was just the catheter left to help alleviate her fear of having a needle stuck in her arm. She checked on her and offered her popsicles or anything she wanted to cheer her up. Kassie worked quickly and efficiently while placing the IV even with my daughter jerking a bit and screaming. She got the job done and encouraged her the entire time. Teresa, radiology walked her through each individual step of a CT prior to beginning the procedure and again as each step happened to make sure she was comfortable and prepared. Riley, LPN, administered her medication and not only told me what she was doing, but my daughter as well. She answered every question my daughter had with a cheerful positive attitude. Each of these individuals should be recognized because they treated my 8-year-old child with compassion and understanding. It made not only myself as a mother feel comfortable but also my child as a person. They were positive and encouraging and you can tell they do their job because they love to help people.
