My son was brought in by Medic 1 for back-to-back seizures. Rebecca was our nurse. It took 45 minutes and multiple meds to stop my son's seizures. M has level 3 autism and is nonverbal, and our nurse addressed M instead of talking around him the whole time. She was kind and compassionate during some of the worst moments of our lives. She kept us updated, checked on things for me, and answered my millions of questions calmly and without making me feel like a bother. She shared with me some of her experiences that just really spoke to the compassionate person that she is. She was the only calm constant in our room that night/morning. She hugged me as we left with Medic 1 to get transferred up to Grand Rapids, and I left hoping we would get just as lucky with our nurses again at DeVos. Thank you isn’t enough, but I hope this message finds you and that you always remember the impact you have every day on families like mine.
