Before we were able to say anything, Matt took over, and it was obvious that our dad, who was in complete despair, was Matt's number one priority. Matt went above and beyond!
MATT IS PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!! We were never so scared in all of our lives. There is no way to replace your father. In a time of SHEER CRISIS!! Matt had just started his shift, walked into our room, and was able to bring calm to our terrifying storm. He may have been scared, but he didn't show it. Our Dad became Matt's number one priority. He looked at us and said, "WE" Got This! Instead of bringing glory to himself, Matt chose to make the whole team shine, and THAT HE DID!!!
Here is the story: It was a Sunday and a day my family will never forget. Our Dad had Flash Pulmonary Edema. In seconds his lungs began filling with fluid, Dad was suffocating, all of a sudden gasping for air. Our Dad, a man of 6' 2" stature, looked at us with fear and pleaded "Help me". We felt helpless! As we prayed fervently to God, we looked up and there was Matt. He walked in and gave us hope. Before we were able to say anything, Matt took over, and it was obvious that our dad, who was in complete despair, was Matt's number one priority. Matt went above and beyond! The care he gave to not only our dad but to us as a family was phenomenal! We cannot even begin to put into words the gratitude we feel towards Matt and the staff. They all had so much love in their hearts. It was so moving to be a part of such a terrifying yet beautiful experience with all of the staff that showed love to us, if that even makes sense.
We as a family truly believe that if it were not for Matt and Dr. J, our father would not be with us today. We could not express our gratitude toward them enough. While still in the process of frantically working with Dad, Dr. J looked up and said, "It's not us, we do nothing, It is God!" So true & So Beautiful!! Thank you, God, for giving us people who are warm, who sincerely care, and who can do what we cannot. They make a great team! They are a true asset to this hospital. Their motto in life should be "If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that cannot be erased" ... because that is exactly what they did! They made their mark on us! We will be forever grateful!
