Linda came up to me and said some kind and encouraging words to me. Then she hugged me. I felt loved.
Linda was kind, caring, and much more. She was compassionate about my health issues, offering words of support and encouragement. She was also very efficient in carrying out her duties quickly and conscientious, leaving (or making/taking) time to pop in my room randomly and ask me if there was anything that I needed. She didn't wait until I called for something but tried to make sure my needs were met and that I was as comfortable (as possible) all the time. For example, my pitcher of water was always fresh because she didn't just leave this up to the tech on duty. She did this and more.
The times she just randomly popped into my room to see if I needed something always cheered me up. I am an old single woman, and these types of "little" extra acts of going "above and beyond" her required duties meant the world to me. Linda's actions showed genuine caring and helped me to be positive in my own outlook and behavior. Even though I wasn't happy about being hospitalized (again) and in pain, her actions and words helped me have a good attitude toward everyone else, including the other staff members.
When I was discharged, while I was in a wheelchair waiting for transport, Linda came up to me and said some kind and encouraging words to me. Then she hugged me. I felt loved. It was the nicest "send-off" I've experienced.
